Sperm recovery methods

Semen Analysis is recommended to men when a couple undergoes infertility investigations for evaluating male fertility.

Sperm recovery methodsWhen an infertility treatment is required, the husband will have to provide a semen sample (sperm collection) on the same day as the egg collection (for In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) treatments), or on the insemination day (with Intra-Uterine Insemination (IUI) treatment). Before using the sample, we will select and isolate the best sperms using the appropriate sperm improvement method.

However, if there is absence of sperm in the semen (a zoospermia), or a very severe male factor, we will have to obtain sperms directly from the testes with minor testicular surgery procedures (Testicular Sperm Recovery Methods). Alternatively, if the husband has a retrograde ejaculation problem, we can recover sperms from the urine.
